Dealing With Offenses
Players
- First offense players sit out of game for six consecutive innings in uniform. For example, if a player is thrown out of a game in the third inning, he or she must sit on the bench in uniform for the remaining three innings of the game and the first three innings of the next scheduled game.
- Second offenses, player sits out for a minimum of twelve innings or depending on the severity of the infraction, may be suspended for the remainder of the season.
- All coaches review codes of conduct with all their players and communicate that the league will strictly enforce all rules. No exceptions!
Coaches
- Suspended coaches may not observe game from bleachers. The coach or manager may not attend game or games they were suspended by umpire or league officials.
- Managers and coaches shall observe all safety policies established by UMYBL officials.
- Coaches and managers are responsible to reasonably communicate codes of conduct to players’ parents and family members who may be violating codes during a game. Failure to cooperate with umpires and league officials may result in forfeiture of game.
Parents
- The Upper Makefield Youth Baseball & Softball League reserves the right to suspend or ban parents from attending league games. A parents or family member failure to observe a suspension or banning may result in the player’s suspension for the remainder of season.
- Parent’s code of conduct should extend to all family members in attendance at games. Siblings and grandparents included.
Enforcement
- The UMYBL shall appoint a panel to enforce the league rules. The Rules Review Committee recommends an odd number of experienced panel members. We also recommend that no coach or manager be put in a position to rule on an infraction or appeal of a player or manager who may be in the same league they are coaching. Panel members should also abstain from ruling on appeals and infractions if it involves a friend or family member. We need to create a fair and consistent board of governance to protect the integrity of the league. For the National League, the Executive Board will form a committee to rule on the protest.
